DARLINGTON AS IT LOOKED 1880-1980 GET TOGETHER AT THE OLD VIC, SATURDAY 18TH MAY
A second get-together of this group has been organised for 18 May The Old Vic in victoria road, start from 6.00pm.
'The Quaker Ale, specially brewed for the group, by Mithril Ales went down really well and there are another 3 pumps installed taking it up to 5 cask ales for all you real ale fans. We had a great night at the 1st meeting and everyone was so pleased with the number of people who turned up even if there were only 16 (18 if you include Barbra Barker's two lovely dogs). Not a huge turnout when it works out at about 0.37% of the total group, but those that did turn up made it all worthwhile. Lets see if we can grow an oak tree from our little acorn lol.' (taken from event listed on facebook)
If you haven't visited the site:
or The Old Vic - now is the time to do both!

Darlington Arts Festival 2013 - Darlington For Culture
Darlington Arts Festival is under way. The festival, being staged at a wide range of venues across the borough, is being co-ordinated by Darlington for Culture, the group which speaks for arts and culture in the area. Darlington for Culture (DfC) was set up late in 2010 to help protect and promote arts and culture in the town. I have been delighted to brew an ale to celebrate this festival, although it sad to think that the 'Arts Centre' is no longer open - but 'the Arts Centre is dead, long live the Arts Festival!'
There is a great programme of events going on, why not visit the website for some ideas of things to do: see link:
An Article also appeared in the Northern Echo On Friday about the ale:

SWEET FA INTERNET
Yes,I know the FA Cup Final was yesterday. Unfortunately, since the middle of April I have been having terrible problems with my internet connection.
After spending over six hours one week on calls to our provider, we had a surfeit of engineers turn up the other week. They agreed it was an external fault, however we were told it was underground and so a different set of engineers had to be booked. The internet was fine for about five days after they had been, before it started playing up again. We are due a visit on Tuesday (hopefully that will be the last one, he say's wishfully).
Imagine how slowly time goes by, as you sit trancelike looking at your Hub wishing, just wishing the bloomin ADSL and Internet lights will turn green. Then, the fight starts between you and the other half over whose use of the internet is more pressing - ebay, facebook or blog?
Anyway, it was a good match and the beer is/was available at the following fine ale houses:
The Old Well, Barnard Castle
The Ship, Middlestone Village
The Bishop Blaize, Richmond
The Holly Hill, Richmond
The Red Lion, Cotherstone
The Duke Of Wellington, Welbury

Real Ale and Cider Festival
New for this year Daleside Brewery are introducing a new Special Ale at the Festival.
Craig Witty, Head Brewer at Daleside Brewery created the beer, named by the winner of the competition, you can taste Craig’s new beer, created to match the winning beers name, “ King o ’t’ Dale Ale”. Craig believes he’s captured in his brew the style and flavour of ale from the times when the young Richard III spent his early life in the Dales around his home of Middleham Castle, Wensleydale.
Also available will be their usual refreshing brands of hand pulled beer. They are also producing their first Lager which will be available at the Festival.
There will be over 40 beers offering different styles, tastes, colour and strengths (including Mithril Ales Rule Britannia). There will be at least 8 different Yorkshire made ciders; please watch this space!
